Spring must be right around the corner. In Portland, the weather has been alternating rapidly between pouring rain and brilliant sunshine, with a little hail thrown in for good measure. The changes in the weather seem to trigger the desire for a little change in our makeup bags as well, so we asked two Blushie Experts, Chad and Karly, to give us their top picks for Spring 2016.

Chad is a long-time Blushie who recently celebrated six years with the store. You don't spend six years in a store without learning what some of the best and most innovative products are, and Chad is always happy to share his knowledge.

Karly is a Blushie Makeup Artist extraordinaire. Known to staff and customers for her precisely lined lips and beautifully blended shadows, she is a skilled artist who also tests every product on herself.

Without being asked about Spring Trends, both of these expert Blushies picked products that are perfect for the three biggest trends we see for spring, so you'll be getting a sneak peek at those now, with more to come in an upcoming blog post. Also, watch for an in-store event focused on them. The spring trends they identified with their picks are perfected, glowy skin; bold lips and colorful eye liner. Here's how they did it!

Chad's top pick for spring was the brand new NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint. This new foundation product provides a soft-matte finish with optical blurring powders that diffuse imperfections. In the same vein, Chad also loves Dermalogica's Hydrablur Primer, another product designed to blur imperfections so that skin looks perfect, or at least nearly so.

Once your skin is perfected, you can make it glow by adding one or two simple products. Both Chad and Karly are huge fans of RMS Beauty, and RMS has three great products to give you glow. The line's star product, Living Luminizer, is Karly's favorite because it works for any skin tone or condition, can be worn very sparingly or heavier, depending on how luminous you want to be. And it certainly doesn't hurt that it contains raw, organic coconut oil to nourish your skin as well as luminize it! Chad is all over the newest addition to the RMS Beauty line, the Master Mixer. Similar to Living Luminizer, Master Mixer is a rose-gold hue that can be worn in place of Living Luminizer, or blended with any other RMS product to give them a subtle glow.

Spring just doesn't feel like spring until someone brings out a bronzer though, and Karly was first to jump on that with her pick of RMS Beauty's Buriti Bronzer. This amazing little pot of color is loaded with antioxidants, and is a subtle shade that gives a realistic bronzed glow to the skin without a hint of sparkle. In fact, all three of these RMS products have "glow," but not shimmer. They bring light to the skin without any shiny particles to give themselves away.

The final glowy skin pick was Chad's pick of NARS Dual Intensity Blush in Craving. This wet-dry blush is a two-fer, because it contains a seashell-pink highlighter and a shimmering beachy-bronze tone so that you can contour as you glow.

Bright eyeliner is a definite spring trend, and the picks of our experts certainly reflected that! Chad loves Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadow because you can use these brilliant, buildable creams to both shadow and line. Layering them on the lid gives you a look that can range from subtle to bold, and then using the accompanying primer and lining with them gives you a bold and monochromatic look that is very current. Chad also loves Stila Cushion Ink Eyeliners both for tight-lining the lashes and for a bold cat-eye look. Karly's two favorite liners for spring are NARS Larger Than Life pencil in Khao San Road, a metallic aquamarine, and Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Paradise Pink. Used as an upper lid or lower lid liner, these shades will really up your eyeliner game!

Bold lips are huge this spring, and something Karly loves to wear. Her top picks are FACE Stockholm Look, a bright licorice red that really will make people look; and NARS Audacious Lipstick in Bette, a rich bordeaux that seems wintry until you combine it with that glowy skin look which makes it perfect for this transitional time of year. Chad also appreciates a bold lip, picking Lipstick Queen Silver Screen collection's iconic scarlet, Have Paris as a favorite. Those NARS Audacious lipsticks are definitely bold, so Chad also picked Lana, a punchy orange-red that he swears will give you an immediate confidence boost!

Karly, ever the makeup junkie, pointed out that no spring makeup-bag update would be complete without a new shade for your tips and toes. Her favorite for spring is Zoya's Marley, a softly shimmering lavender that looks great with your winter-pale skin and with a tan!
